THE SUPER OIL: COD LIVER OIL
You may have been told stories by your parents of their Mum feeding them a spoonful of cod liver oil each day, or you may be the one who feed this super oil to your kids. Cod liver oil has been around for a long time. Back in the 1890’s it was used to treat children with rickets and adults relied on it to treat symptoms of arthritis. Cod liver oil provides a good source of omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, this vital fat provides many health benefits. It also contains vitamin A and vitamin D.
This super oil provides the following benefits;
Protects arteries from damage
Inhibits blood clots
Reduces blood triglycerides
Lowers blood pressure
Lowers LDL cholesterol
Reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke and heart disease
Eases symptoms of arthritis
Aids healthy skin and hair
Strengthens the immune system
Reduces infant development abnormalities
So as you can see, cod liver oil provides an enormous amount of health benefits. I recommend taking a teaspoon of cod liver oil 3-5 times per week. I take a teaspoon every second day as I consume butter from grass-fed cows, eggs from pastured hens and salmon regularly. All of these foods contain vitamin A and D and omega-3’s and is the reason why I only take the cod liver oil 3 times per week.
The brand I use is Melrose because I know that it has been cold expressed Make sure you choose a brand that has been cold expressed as the fatty acids can be destroyed easily Also keep it in your fridge.
