MY HEALTHY HOT CHOCOLATE

This is the easiest way to make yourself a cup of hot chocolate. Always choose organic full fat milk. I strongly recommend drinking raw milk. When milk is pasteurised it’s nutrients are destroyed which causes the nutritional value to plummet. For more information on the benefits of raw milk see my blog here.

Ingredients

1 cup grass-fed organic full fat milk (preferably raw)

1/2 cup water

1-2 heaped tsp organic raw cacao powder

1/2-1 tsp of organic honey, coconut nectar, maple syrup or brown rice syrup. Raw grass-fed milk is a lot sweeter than pasteurised milk so I never need to add a sweetener

Method

1) Put milk, water and cocoa into a saucepan and whisk over low heat. Keep the heat low so the enzymes are not destroyed if using raw milk, it needs to stay under about 38 degrees Celsius

2) Meanwhile, if you are using it, put the sweetener into a mug

3) Once the cocao mixture is warm, take it off the heat and whisk to form some froth

4) Pour into your mug. It will be the perfect temperature for you to drink straight away

    Where do you buy coconut nectar? it sounds like it is sweet.

      Hi Juliana,

      You can purchase it at any health food store. Yes it is very sweet and a great replacement for refined sugar. Just remember, it is still a sweetener and should only be consume occasionally. It just has a lot more nutrients than table sugar. Keep it in the fridge once opened.
